Women's Fashions

Every online catalogue has a big selection of clothing, but this is especially so for women, because quite simply, they spend the most amount of cash on the latest fashions, much more then the men do! There are pages and pages of women's clothes in all the major catalogues, and Littlewoods are the leaders in this field, with the help of the two self proclaimed style gurus, Trinny and Susanna.

Women's fashion is big business, very big business, and the likes of littlewoods and Next spend a great deal of time perfecting their ranges, so they can be totally in touch with what are going to be the must have items long before they even hit the streets. Getting this right is what makes or breaks sales, and a whole lot of cash is pumped in the ranges to get the right look.

Selling designer labels has always been a corner stone of catalogue shopping, they sell much better than non branded items because there is a much bigger profit margin involved. By getting top name fashion designers to make exclusive ranges for a certain catalogue is the way forward, and this is happening more and more. The cost of getting these celebrity fashion gurus does not come cheap, but the benefits must outway the expense, or else the catalogue companies would just not do it.

The key is to produce affordable fashion, cheaper clothes, and also the middle priced clothes, this way they cater for all wallet sizes, and keep their core customers happy. A big choice is also key as well. You have got have a wide variety to cater for all fashion trends and tastes. Next have focused on smaller ranges, especially for men, but their lack of profit last year shows just how easy it can be to lose customers if you don't offer the latest fashions that people will buy.

Again, littlewoods have got the correct blend of cheap to expensive, and have the best marketing tools to reach their target audience. Grattan and Kays are also not doing to well, and they really need to get their act together just to stay in business this year. The other catalogues have gone for certain niches as far as women's fashion goes, and have made decent profits, so there is a market for alternative clothing, but it has to be at the right price for people to buy them, and keep coming back for more.

The one drawback for the online catalogues is that you cannot physcially try the clothes on, so i guess the high street will always have the advantage in this, but more and more women are shopping online and browsing through the catalogues because the clothes are generally cheaper due to reduced overheads. Littlewoods now has no high street presence, and so can offer cheaper clothes than they did in their high street shops. Perhaps this is the way forward.
